A Message from Glenn and Marilyn:

We are saddened like the rest of the world when Hurricane Katrina the most prolific ca strophe to happen in American history destroyed three quarters of New Orleans and regions of the United States Gulf Coast.

Hurricane Katrina destroyed Z Hair and our home next door. The entire home town of Chalmette where we grew up in located in the Parish of St.Bernard, suffered massive flooding and wind damage. Every home in our town was flooded. Many homes were destroyed beyond recognition. Hundreds lost their lives and the remains of the city is something to see. Thousands are homeless and remain homeless. No words can explain our feelings. Our prayers are with all.

Our home and business home had over 7 foot of water in it. We lost our home and our business for now and they can be rebuilt. We were devastated to see the condition of our home and business when we went back in two weeks after the storm.

Our families and friends are displaced and scattered. Our entire lives were disrupted in the twinkling of an eye. We never thought that we would ever be homeless. Marilyn and I just cried. Little did we know that this event would be the biggest trial in our lives. The only way to get through it is to talk about it, stay Kingdom focused, and to move forward.

In November 05, we decided to relocate our Slidell, LA and rebuild another home in Pearl River, LA.We will operate with two locations. Z Hair in Chalmette will be rebuilt in the coming months and will help with the rebuilding of our beloved Parish of St.Bernard. We miss all of our friends and clients. Z-Hair Salon's internationally-known hairstylist and owner, Marilyn Binder, has a proven track record as a successful salon owner and stylist for over 27 years. Marilyn returned to New Orleans in August of 1996, after a very successful five years in the Dallas/Fort Worth area providing professional hairstyling services for many international clients, as well as many from far and wide in the United States. In November 1997, she was earned her certification from Redken as a Redken Color Specialist, and Master Stylist.

In September 2001,Marilyn and Glenn Binder proudly welcomed their daughter, Rachelle to the family business as the 3rd generation family member to have a career in the beauty/barber industry. Rachelle has graduated with top honors from the Paul Mitchell Signature Cosmetology School in Slidell, LA and has completed all the Louisiana State Board Cosmetology requirements for her Cosmetology License. Over the past 5 years under guidance of her mom, Rachelle has distinguished herself as a Redken Color Specialist and a premier creative color artist in the New Orleans Metropolitan area.
